“Cubo” is an ambient light that was born upon the finding of leftover Onyx in my grandmother’s attic.The simple shape aims to give the beautiful material the protagonist role it deserves.  A Cube, is a geometric 3D shape that is the same from any perspective, thus for some, it may symbolize “Truth”, “Permanence” and “Stability”. The Onyx, is a material with parallel bonds, its layers bring up multiple shades. It is opaque, until light is shone behind it and it portrays its organic translucency. The Cube is a metaphor for a person, one that is strong, stable and put together from the outside, but in the inside, they are really a multi layered emotional complexion like the Onyx. The use of an LED warm tone bulb, allows the material to provide a never ending golden centered glow.
